Big weather changes coming for Clay County

The National Weather Service in Knoxville has issued a freeze warning for Clay County from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing which could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

Overnight temperatures are expected to drop below freezing for the remainder of the week with highs on Tuesday expected to be in the 40s but climbing into the upper 60s by Friday.
