Bishop McGuinness Ends Lady Jackets' Title Chase

On Friday, March 1, the varsity Lady Yellow Jacket basketball team hit the road to take on Bishop McGuinness in round two of the NCHSAA tournament. The Villains were heavily favored and prevented any thought of a Hayesville shocker by eliminating the Lady Jackets with a 71-34 victory.

Hayesville leaders

Brooke Graves: 12 points

Briley Clampitt: 8 points

Ava Shook: 5 points

Breanna Abrams: 4 points

Mallory Peck: 4 points

Hayesville ends the season with a 21-7 record, a runner-up finish in the Smoky Mountain Conference regular season as well as a runner-up finish in the conference tournament.

With the entire team returning for the 2024-25 season, the Lady Jackets will no doubt be expected to compete for a SMC championship as well as a realistic run at a state title.
