As of writing, the school year isn't even finished, but Hayesville coach Chad McClure is already planning for a sports-filled summer.

McClure serves as Hayesville's head football coach as well as

the head coach for the Lady Yellow Jacket basketball squad. McClure's summer schedule will see him go from the gridiron first thing in the morning to the hardwood later in the day.

To start his days, McClure will join his football team at the fieldhouse for workouts. "On the football side of things, we will be focusing mainly on weights and conditioning through the month of June." McClure said the first two weeks are state- mandatory off weeks or "dead weeks." After that, it will officially be the pre-season and practices will ramp up in preparation for the Jackets' kickoff game. After a COVD-induced hiatus, Hayesville will return to the tradition of starting the season with a rivalry game against Towns County, Ga. It will be a home game for the Jackets on Friday, Aug. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

For the basketball portion of his schedule, McClure is wasting no time working with his team. The Lady Jackets will be in The Hive on Monday, June 6 to start their summer workouts. The team will be active four days a week throughout the month. Those days will include practices, games in Towns County as part of the Summer League, an overnight camp at Mercer University and some fun team building activities will be sprinkled in.

The camp is open to any high school aged girl who is interested in being on the team. McClure said, "Those interested need to have an up to date physical. Any player that wants to attend can. It doesn't have any implications on if you're on the team or not, but it's a great opportunity to get better and play some games."

For the younger players, McClure and his staff are offering a two-day camp on Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10. The camp will be for grades kindergarten through eighth and will give the future Lady Jackets an opportunity to interact with and learn from the varsity coaching staff.

Anyone interested in more information on Yellow Jacket football, Lady Yellow Jacket basketball or the youth fundamentals camp can contact Coach McClure at (828) 361-1187 or cmcclure@hayesvillehs.org.
