Catamount Athletics Nears Record for Football Season Tickets

By Daniel Hooker

Western Carolina Athletics

Just days before opening the much-anticipated 2022 Catamount football season, Western Carolina is nearing a record number of season ticket holders, the department announced today. Catamount Athletics is closing in on the all-time high of season tickets sold back in 2018 with a call for a final push to exceed that previous benchmark.

“We can’t say thank you enough to Catamount Nation for their continuing support and investments in the success of this football program and the WCU athletics department,” said Catamount head football coach Kerwin Bell. “Season ticket holders and Catamount Club members form a strong foundation for our department and our football team. We appreciate every single one of them and their support of our student-athletes.”

A variety of season ticket packages are available for the rapidly approaching 2022 season. Adult general admission tickets start at $71, with adult reserved bench/bleacher tickets at $126, and adult chairback season tickets are just $136 apiece. Both youth and special WCU faculty/staff rates are also available. The Family Section is just $201 and includes 2 adult and 2 youth (12 and under) season tickets. WCU's five-game home schedule includes one nonconference opponent as Presbyterian comes to Cullowhee for the “White Out Whitmire” home opener on Sept. 17, followed by four exciting Southern Conference games and home promotions. The Catamounts host VMI on Family Weekend and EBCI Day on October 1 and The Citadel for Heroes Day on October 22. Western Carolina's annual Homecoming game is slated for November 5 against Wofford with the home regular-season finale against Chattanooga slated for Nov. 19, WCU’s Senior Day and Hall of Fam Day. Football season tickets and game day parking passes may be purchased by visiting CatamountSports.com or by calling the WCU Athletic Ticket Office at 828-227-2401. Fans may also visit the ticket office located on the first floor of the Ramsey Center during the week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Single-game tickets and gameday parking passes for each of WCU’s five home dates are also on sale now through the WCU Athletics Ticket Office and online at CatamountSports.com. Please be reminded that among the changes for 2022 are the paid parking model for most on-campus parking options nearest the stadium and that the Catamount football team has switched home sidelines, moving from the West side to the East – or the press box side of E.J. Whitmire Stadium.

Western Carolina opens the 2022 season this Saturday, Sept. 3 with the first of back-to-back road games before opening the home season on Sat., Sept. 17 against Presbyterian in Cullowhee. The Catamounts travel to Charleston Southern for a Noon kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 3 before tangling with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Sat., Sept. 10 in Atlanta, Ga.
