Catamount Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule

Western Carolina volleyball head coach Karen Glover today announced her squad’s 2022 schedule which opens in late August and features early season competition in four nonconference tournaments played at Wake Forest, Tennessee Tech, NC State, and Virginia Tech ahead of a 16-match Southern Conference slate.
The Catamounts host Anderson University in an exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. inside the Ramsey Center. The Trojans won a share of the 2021 South Atlantic Conference (SAC) regular season title and hosted the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.
WCU begins its 2022 regular season action at the Wake Forest Invitational against Kennesaw State on Friday, Aug. 26 before facing the host Demon Deacons and N.C. Central the following day.
A mountain rivalry will be renewed on Tuesday, Aug. 30 as the Catamounts head to the Justice Center to face UNC Asheville at 6 p.m.
Western Carolina will spend Labor Day weekend in Cookeville, Tenn., at the Golden Eagle Invitational. The Catamounts open the tournament with a pair of matches on Friday, Sept. 2 against Evansville and tournament host Tennessee Tech before concluding the tournament the next day against Northwestern.
The Catamounts close out the nonconference portion of their schedule at a pair of tournaments hosted by ACC member schools. WCU heads to Raleigh for the Wolfpack Invitational, Sept. 8-9 where it faces both Indiana and TCU on Friday, Sept. 8 before closing out the tournament against the host Wolfpack on Sat., Sept. 9. The final nonconference tournament, the Virginia Tech Classic, is scheduled for Sept. 15-16 and will see the Catamounts face longtime rival Appalachian State followed by either Virginia Tech or Norfolk State.
WCU’s first regular-season home match which is also its Southern Conference opener is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 23 as the Catamounts welcome Samford to the Ramsey Center before Mercer the following day. WCU heads to The Citadel (Sept. 30) and Wofford (Oct. 1) the following weekend before welcoming Chattanooga and ETSU to Cullowhee on Oct. 7-8.
After a four-match road trip during the middle of October, WCU opens a stretch of four of its last six matches at home against Wofford (Oct. 28) and The Citadel (Oct. 29) to close out October before spending the opening weekend of November in the Volunteer State for the final two road contests. The Catamounts close out the season at home against UNCG on Nov. 9 and on Senior Night against Furman on Nov. 12.
The SoCon Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 18-20 in Greenville, S.C., at Furman’s Alley Gymnasium.
