Chiefs dominant in flag football kickoff game

The 2022 flag football season got underway at the Clay County Recreation Center Monday, Sept. 19 with a game between the Chiefs and the Panthers in the 12U division. The first half was close, but the Chiefs dominated the second half to get the 33-8 win.
Eli Cheeks got the game started with a bang for the Chiefs as he took the handoff and ran the length of the field for a touchdown on the first play of the game. The Chiefs also benefitted from the strong play from quarterback Lucy Trout. Trout kept the Panther defense guessing with handoffs and passes.
For the Panthers, Matthew Peck had a strong game on both sides of the ball, making tackles on defense and engineering yard-gaining plays at the quarterback position. Tucker Dockery was targeted with passes, but the Chiefs' defense was just too fast and limited the Panthers' progression down the field.
The Chiefs will try to improve their record to 2-0 on Thursday, Sept. 22 as they take on the Jackets. It will be the first game of the year for the Jackets. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at the recreation center.
