Colorado Nightclub Shooting
Five people were killed and at least 25 others injured late Saturday when a gunman opened fire at Club Q, an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, about 70 miles south of Denver. Reports say two patrons fought and subdued the shooter, 22-year-old Anderson Aldrich, minutes before police arrived and placed him in custody. Early reports claim the shooter entered the busy nightclub with two firearms, including a long rifle, just before midnight and began shooting immediately. The venue hosted live music Saturday followed by dancing, with a brunch to mark an annual memorial for transgendered victims of violence planned for Sunday morning. No motive has yet been identified and investigators, including the FBI, are evaluating whether the attack will be prosecuted as a hate crime. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
