Crystal Corley and the Mountain Lions Take Down SWU

Spencer Mathis

Assistant Sports Information Director

Central, S.C.| Young Harris traveled to Tysinger Gymnasium to take on Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday (Feb. 14) evening. YHC took a commanding 18-10 lead in the first quarter, which sprouted into a 26 to 20 halftime lead. In the second half, the Mountain Lions held on to take down the Warriors, 54 to 49. Crystal Corley was an imposing force yet again for the Mountain Lions, as they extended their win streak to five games. Young Harris has held opponents to an eFG% of just 36.3% over the last 10 games played, good for 1st place in D2 for that specific defensive statistic.

The Mountain Lions improved to 12-12 this season and an impressive 8-6 in Conference Carolinas play. Southern Wesleyan University dropped to 9-15 overall and 6-8 in conference games. YHC returns to action on Saturday at 2 p.m., where they take on King University in Bristol, Tennessee.

  • Crystal Corley scored 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and recorded three steals for the Mountain Lions.

  • Kamryn Bates put up 12 points and racked up five assists for YHC.

  • Tristen Berry and Shelby Glance each scored 11 points for SWU.

  • The Mountain Lions scored 19 points off turnovers, compared to the Warriors' 11.
