Devils too tough for Yellow Jackets

The Hayesville Yellow Jackets made their way to Bryson City Monday, Sept. 19 to take on Smoky Mountain Conference foe Swain County. The Jackets were looking to continue their winning ways following their victory over Tri County Early College on Sept. 14. The Maroon Devils came into the contest with a 2-8 overall record and 2-1 in conference play.

All of Hayesville's attacks on goal were thwarted by the Devils' keeper. The Jackets just couldn't get by Swain's stifling defense. Meanwhile, the Devils were able to expose gaps in Hayesville's formations, resulting in 4 goals and giving Swain the 4-0 shutout.

The Jackets will try to return to the win column Wednesday, Sept. 21 as they host the Murphy Bulldogs. Start time for the rivalry match is set for 4 p.m.
