After an investigation was opened by Clay and Cherokee County narcotics units, Kenneth Charles Smith was arrested in Cherokee County on 7/31/2024 by units of the Clay and Cherokee County Sheriff's Office for trafficking Methamphetamine.
Investigators with the Clay County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in the Cold Branch Road area of Clay County. Investigators located six (6) firearms and suspected methamphetamine inside of Kenneth Charles Smiths camper. Kenneth Charles Smith is a convicted felon who is not to possess a firearm.
Investigators also located a yellow box containing 5 baggies with approximately 30 grams each of suspected methamphetamine inside, and 9 baggies with approximately 9 grams each of suspected Psilocybin inside.
Investigators processed the evidence at the Clay County Sheriff's Office. Approximately 150 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 81 grams of Psilocybin (mushrooms) were placed into evidence.
Clay County warrants have been served on Smith while in custody at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
