Clay County Republican Party
The Clay County Republican Party will hold its annual Precinct and County Conventions on Thursday, March 21, in the restored courtroom upstairs at the Beal Center/Historic Clay County Courthouse, on the Square in downtown Hayesville. The purpose of the conventions is to elect delegates to the 11th District and State Republican Conventions for 2024.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. As per the NC GOP Plan of Organization, the Precinct Conventions convene at 6 p.m. to select delegates to the County Convention. The County Convention convenes at 7 p.m., and will select delegates to the District 11 and N.C. State Conventions. (NOTE: County GOP Officers and "At Large" Members of the Executive Committee will be elected at the 2025 County Convention.)
There will be light refreshments, snacks and desserts immediately following the precinct conventions. Attendees are encouraged to bring a covered dish, snack, or dessert to share. The Clay County GOP will provide beverages and sandwiches.
Republican voters registered in Clay County are invited to attend. However, only those Republicans registered on the Clay County Board of Election rolls as of January 31, 2024, are eligible to vote at the conventions. Formal Convention Rules are set forth below in this Newsletter.
