Flagler edges past Young Harris 1-0

Miles Shanley's goal in the 16th minute was the difference as Flagler College squeaked past Young Harris College 1-0 Monday (Oct. 3) afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match at Saints Field.

The Saints improved to 5-3-2 overall and to 4-2-1 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 4-3-3 and 3-2-2. Young Harris returns to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field for its next two matches this week. The Mountain Lions will host their Blood Mountain rival University of North Georgia Wednesday (Oct. 5) at 5 p.m.


  • Shanley's game-winning goal at the 15:03 mark was set up by George Winser's assist.

  • Flagler held a 15-9 advantage on shots, including a 5-2 edge on goal. Mikkel Goeling, Malthe Kristensen and Pato Padilla each had two shots for the Mountain Lions, while Sergio Llopart and Goeling each had shots on goals for YHC.

  • The Saints held a 11-6 margin on corner kicks.

  • YHC goalkeeper Henrik Timgren recorded three saves.
