The University of Georgia soccer team bolstered its 2024 roster with the signing of graduate transfer forward Margie Detrizio, as announced by head coach Keidane McAlpine Wednesday afternoon.
Detrizio, a native of Chandler, Arizona, joins Georgia after a successful four-year career at Washington State, where she was twice named an All-Pac-12 performer. Over four seasons with the Cougars, Detrizio appeared in 71 matches with 48 starts, accumulating 4,326 field minutes. She finished her time in Pullman with 68 career points, 26 goals, 16 assists and 234 shots, all ranking within the program’s top-10 performers.
In the 2023 season, Detrizio led Washington State in points (21), goals (8), assists (5), shots (76), and shots on goal (32), while also ranking top-10 in the Pac-12 in goals, points, shots, and shots on goal. She started all 19 matches and led the Cougars to a 9-6-4 record, earning a placement on the All-Pac-12 Third Team. She graduated this spring from Washington State with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development.
Detrizio was an All-Pac-12 Second Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Pacific Region Third Team performer in 2022 as she led the team with 11 goals, which led the team and ranked third in the conference. She also led the league in shots (86) and shots on goal (41), while finishing fourth in points and fifth in goals. In 2021, Detrizio played in all 21 matches and started nine as the Cougars reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, scoring four goals and assisting on three.
Prior to Washington State, Detrizio played for the Utah Royals FC USDA U-18/19 team, scoring a team-high 20 goals in 29 matches during the 2018 season. She also played for Basha HS in Chandler, tallying 24 goals and 10 assists as the Bears reached the AIA Soccer State Championships.
