Georgia Falls to Ole Miss, 73-51

Fifth-year senior forward Javyn Nicholson finished one point off her career high with 26 points to lead the Georgia women’s basketball team in a 73-51 loss to Ole Miss on Thursday at the SJB Pavilion. 

 

The Lady Bulldogs return home to host Florida at 1 p.m. ET Sunday inside Stegeman Coliseum. 

 

On Thursday, Georgia held Ole Miss to just a 33-percent shooting effort in the first quarter, but still trailed 14-12. The Lady Bulldogs hit 45 percent from the floor, but were plagued by five turnovers in the first 10 minutes. 

 

Ole Miss scored the first 11 points of the second quarter, and Georgia did not score until 3:26 left in the second frame. The Rebels outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 15-3,  in the period and led Georgia 29-15 at the half. 

 

The Rebels ended the third quarter hitting seven of their last nine shots and took a 53-36 advantage going into the fourth. The Lady Bulldogs would not get closer in a 73-51 loss.
