AUGUSTA, Ga. | Young Harris College baseball's McLain Harris has been named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week ending May 1.
Harris pitched a complete-game, four-hit shutout as the Mountain Lions took game three of their series at Georgia Southwestern University 2-0 Sunday (May 1). The senior right-handed pitcher from Griffin, Georgia, did not issue a walk and struck out 10 to improve to 8-3 on the season. He completed the game with 96 pitches thrown, allowing only one runner to reach third base and two to reach second base. He retired the side in order five times and set the YHC school career record for wins with 18. Harris leads the PBC with a 1.83 earned-run average and saves (6), and is second in opponent batting average (.212) and wins (8). The Mountain Lions (33-16) return to action Friday (May 6) in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Peach Belt Baseball Tournament. The brackets for the tournament will be released Tuesday (May 3).
