On Tuesday, April 2, the Yellow Jacket varsity baseball team welcomed Smoky Mountain Conference opponent Cherokee to Hayesville. The home team had no problem defending the home field as the Jackets cruised to a 19-0 win in five innings.

As is usually the case in a dominant victory, multiple Yellow Jacket batters contributed to the offensive explosion, but junior Chance Hughes stood out by going 2-3 with 3 RBI, scored a run and recorded a stolen base.
