Hayesville Defends Home Turf For Homecoming Victory

The Hayesville Yellow Jacket varsity football team celebrated their homecoming night with a dominant performance over Cherokee, beating the Braves 17-0.
After a scoreless first quarter, Hayesville got on the board first when quarterback Tate Roberts busted through the Cherokee's defense for a 1-yard touchdown run. Isaac Chandler came on for the point after and was successful. With 10:42 left in the half, the Jackets led 7-0.
The home team would double the lead at the 3:46 mark of the second quarter. Workhorse Tre Graves dropped into the end zone for the score and Chandler did his part with the PAT. The Jackets went into the locker room at halftime up 14-0.
In the second half, the Yellow Jacket defense continued to deny Cherokee from putting points on the board. Meanwhile, Chandler extended Hayesville's lead by sending a 33-yard kick through the uprights for a field goal with 4:30 left in the game.
That would prove to be the final score of the game, handing the Jackets the 17-0 victory.
