Hayesville soccer gets home win over SMC oponnent Cherokee

On Monday, Oct. 3, the men's varsity soccer team from Hayesville High School played host to Smoky Mountain Conference foe Cherokee. The Yellow Jackets managed just one goal, but it proved to be enough to get the victory.

The only goal for the match came in the first half when junior Kevin Kleckner netted a goal for the Jackets.

Hayesville goaltender Connor Rexroad did a great job protecting the net for the Jackets. The senior was perfect with five saves in the contest.

With the win, Hayesville's record improves to 3-2-2 as the Jackets sit in fourth place in the SMC standings.

Next up for the team is an away match against Blue Ridge Early College on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m.
