Young Harris College Director of Athletics Jennifer Rushton announced that men's lacrosse coach Michael Herring has resigned as head coach for the men's lacrosse program due to personal reasons.

"I am extremely grateful to Michael for restarting the men's lacrosse program," said Rushton. "He put in countless hours working to rebuild this program and establish a culture of success. We are committed to our men's lacrosse program and will begin a search for our next head coach immediately. I wish Michael and his family all the best in the future." Herring joined the Mountain Lion coaching staff and restarted the men's lacrosse program after it was suspended in 2020. With a very young team, the Mountain Lions returned to play in 2022. YHC, which lost four matches by two goals or less, went 1-14 this past spring and qualified for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 5 seed in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Mountain Lions earned the PBC Team Sportsmanship Award for men's lacrosse and had three players named to the All-Peach Belt team.
