For the second time in the young 2023-24 basketball season, Hayesville High School's varsity basketball teams took to their home court for non-conference games. Jacket Nation went hope happy following a pair of dominating wins over Blue Ridge Early College.

The Lady Jackets got the evening off to a strong start with a convincing 61-15 win over the Lady Bobcats. The win evens Hayesville's record at 1-1 while BREC fell to 0-2.

  • Ava Shook: team-high 16 points

  • Emma Ashe: 9 points

  • Mallory Peck: 8 points

  • Breanna Abrams: 7 points

Head coach Michael Cottrell was honored between games for his 600th career win, which he picked up with a season-opening win over Hiwassee Dam.

Fans of fast-paced basketball got their fill in the men's game. The Yellow Jackets used quick passes, swarming defense, and speed on both ends of the court to eliminate any hope BREC might have had. With the 80-30 win, the Jackets improve to 2-0. The Bobcats, meanwhile, fall to 0-2.

  • Landon Hughes: 14 points

  • Cooper Matheson: 11 points

  • Jacob McClure: 11 points

  • Riley Rogers: 10 points

The two teams will hit the road on Friday, Dec. 1 to take on Nantahala. The Lady Jackets will tip off 6 and the Yellow Jackets will follow.
