HHS has three athletes with podium finishes at the state championship meet

The 2022 track and field season has come to a close for high schools across the state of North Carolina. On Saturday, May 21, Hayesville athletes travelled to Greensboro to compete in the NCHSAA track and field state championship. After surviving 90 degree temperatures, HHS had three athletes end up on the podium and all Yellow Jacket athletes/teams finishing in the top 10. Emma Shook, Lily Trout and Jake McTaggart all had podium finishes in their events.

Lady Jacket results:

100 meter hurdles: Emma Shook, fourth place, 16.94.

300 meter hurdles: Emma Shook, third place, 50.40.

4x400 meter relay: Hayesville, eighth place, 4:40.71.

4x800 meter relay: Hayesville, sixth place, 11:09.62.

Shot put: Lily Trout, third place, 31-11.25.


Yellow Jacket results:

Discus: Jake McTaggart, third place, 153-8.

Shot put: Jake McTaggart, fifth place, 47-10; Taylor McClure, ninth place, 44-3.5
