Hit and Run Driver Arrested in School Bus Incident

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office along with the Georgia State Patrol worked together to identify and arrest Sheila Smith, age 68 of Hiawassee at her residence early Thursday morning.

Smith was charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Failure to Report an Accident and Failure to Provide Assistance.

Sheriff Ken Henderson commends the Georgia State Patrol, Hiawassee Police Department, Towns County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and the public for their diligence in helping identify the suspect.
