Jackets Fall In Season-Opener

Hayesville High School's baseball team made the short trip to Hiawassee, Georgia on Thursday, Feb. 29 to take on the Towns County Indians in the Yellow Jackets' first game of the season. The cross-lake rivals were too much for Hayesville and the Indians got the 6-1 win.

The Jackets managed 1 run on five hits with one error. Hayesville's lone RBI belonged to Robby Barter in the fifth inning.

On the mound, Kyle Shaheen faced the majority of Indian batters, going four innings and allowing 4 earned runs on three hits with three walks and a strikeout. Jackson Sellers gave up 2 earned runs on two hits in two innings of worked and also recorded three walks as well as three strikeouts.

Hayesville will return to Georgia on Monday, March 4 to face the Union County Panthers at 5:30 p.m. in Blairsville.
