On 12/12/2023 Investigators with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office were assisting Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office with the warrant apprehension for Joshua Ryan Lowe, 36 years of age from Hayesville.
Lowe had active warrants out of Clay County for Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Methamphetamine; Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Schedule II ControlledSubstance; Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver a Schedule I Controlled Substance; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
During this operation, a Cherokee County Deputy initiated a traffic stop for Lowe at which time he fled. Cherokee and Clay County Officers participated in the pursuit of Lowe which ended in his capture.
Once Lowe was apprehended, he was found in possession of a very large quantity of narcotics. In addition to the outstanding Clay County warrants for arrest, Lowe was charged in Cherokee County with Felony Fleeing to Elude Arrest, two felony counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Lowe was held under no bond. In North Carolina, the word “Trafficking” in a statute automatically means a large quantity of drugs of which a conviction requires mandatory prison sentences.
This is yet another example of Clay and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Offices working hand in hand in the fight against illegal drugs within our communities.
ALL SUSPECTS ARE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
