JV Lady Jackets Still Undefeated, Varsity Comes Up Short

For the second time in less than a week, the volleyball squads from Hayesville faced off with Tuscola. This time, the Lady Jackets were defending their home court on Monday, Aug.21. The JV team entered the matchup looking to improve to 3-0 and the varsity team hoped to get their first win of the season.

Action got underway with the JV showdown. Tuscola got off to a hot start and never looked back, winning the opening set 25-10. Hayesville bounced back in set two, picking up the 25-20 victory to force a third set.

In that decisive frame, the Lady Jackets refused to lose, battling back from a deficit to win the set 15-9 and the match 2-1.

For the varsity squad, Hayesville found themselves in a barn-burner for the first set. It took extra points, but the Lady Jackets managed to win the opening set 27-25. Following a less than stellar performance in set two, the Lady Jackets found themselves tied 1-1 and needing to grab the momentum.

After clawing back to make the third set close, Hayesville couldn't finish the charge, losing 25-22.

The fourth set had both fan bases on the edge of their seats as the two teams swapped points off of lengthy volleys. Ultimately, Tuscola was able to pull ahead in the late stages to get the 25-22 set victory and clinche the 3-1 match win.

Both teams will be in The Hive again on Tuesday, Aug. 22 to host Franklin.
