JV Lady Yellow Jackets Bright Spot Against Cherokee
On Monday, Oct.2, Hayesville's volleyball teams returned to The Hive as they hosted the Lady Braves from Cherokee. The visitors picked up a pair of wins, but Hayesville's JV team managed to keep their win streak alive.

For the varsity match, Hayesville could never get things going. Self inflicted errors coupled with Cherokee's talent dug a hole too big for the Lady Jackets to climb out of. The Lady Braves needed the minimum amount of sets to get the 3-0 win.
The JV Lady Jackets took the court looking to remain unbeaten in the Smoky Mountain Conference. Cherokee made it clear early on that it was not going to be an easy night for Hayesville. The Lady Jackets had to battle back from a deficit several times, but went up 1-0 with a 25-23 set-victory.
Set two was more of the same, with the Lady Braves minimizing their mistakes. Several long vollies had both fan bases on edge, hanging on every point. Hayesville once again had to play from behind for the majority of the set. However, it was almost as if you could feel the confidence settle on the Lady Jackets and they took over to win the set 25-21 and the match 2-0.
Hayesville Middle School looked to be on their way to a set one win in their match, but Cherokee rallied to get the victory. The Lady Braves also won the second set to get the match win.
The teams will be in action again Thursday, Oct.5 when they host Robbinsville.
