Hayesville hit the road on Tuesday, May 3, to faceoff with the Lady Bulldogs of Murphy. A win over their chief rival wasn't in the books for the Lady Yellow Jackets. When all was said and done, Hayesville returned home with a 7-1 loss.

The Lady Jackets trailed 3-0 by the top of the third inning. Hayesville got on the board in that inning with a solo run. Unfortunately, that would be the last time a Lady Jacket would cross home plate. Murphy had another 3-run scoring spurt in the bottom of the fifth, giving them a 7-1 lead, the eventual final.

The loss gives Hayesville a 2-9 conference record and 4-9 overall. In the Smoky Mountain Conference, the Lady Jackets sit in sixth place with one game left in the season.

Hayesville will wrap up their 2022 campaign at home Thursday, May 5 in a rematch against Murphy. The game has a 4:30 p.m. start time.
