The varsity Lady Yellow Jacket basketball team is turning some heads in the Smoky Mountain Conference. On Tuesday, January 23, the team made the journey to Andrews to take on the Lady Wildcats in an important SMC match up. Lead by sophomore Ava Shook, Hayesville jumped out to an early lead with a 12-6 run in the first quarter and never looked back, ending the night with an impressive 53-35 victory. Shook had a career night with an incredible 25 points.

The win was the seventh in a row for Hayesville, improving their overall record to 13-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play. That record puts the Lady Jackets in second place in the conference behind Cherokee who has a 6-0 SMC record.
Earlier in the night, the JV Lady Jackets also tasted victory when they defeated Andrews for their second win of the season.
