Lawrence to take part in all-star tour of Europe



Young Harris College volleyball player Mollie Lawrence has been selected to play on an all-star team that will tour Europe from July 13-23.


The rising junior setter from Fleming Island, Florida, will compete for the under-23 Bring It Promotions Southeast All-Star team that will feature 12 collegiate players.


Lawrence led the Mountain Lions last season with 533 assists, was second in service aces with 37 and third with 168 digs. She finished ranked fifth in the Peach Belt Conference in service aces per set (0.38), assists per set (5.67) and total assists.


The tour will begin in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the team will have an opportunity to spend mornings sightseeing and afternoon, evenings practicing and playing friendly matches, then move onto Split, Croatia where they will have an opportunity to explore the Mediterranean culture. After Split, the team will be traveling to Pula, Croatia to take part in the 2023 European Global Challenge opening ceremonies. The four-day tournament will run from July 18-21 and will feature national-select teams from the United States, as well as junior national teams and elite women's club teams from across Europe. After the tournament, the team will head to their final stop - Venice, Italy, where they will have an opportunity to relax and enjoy their well-deserved break before they head home to the United States.


The BIP SE u23 will be managed by coaches Nick St Thomas and Brian Wheatley. The Global Challenge International High-Performance Tourney started in 2005.
