Press Release

Local storyteller Kanute Rarey has been asked to help kick the first ever Blue Ridge Storytelling Festival in June in Burnsville, Tennessee just north of Asheville. His light-

hearted stories of off-the-wall relatives, the surprises of nature, freaky pets and wild critters are perfect to entertain the crowd expected at this new Blue Ridge storytelling summit Saturday, June 22nd.

Festival attendees will be treated to multiple performances by talented storytellers throughout the day starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Burnsville’s Center for Pioneer Life. The day’s event provides the opportunity to learn about the settling of our mountain region and to

listen to fun-filled and inspirational tales of Appalachian life. All proceeds support the mission of the Center of Pioneer Life which is collect historic information and artifacts and educate the public on the history of settling of the mountains of Appalachia. Rarey invites everyone to

come out and be a part of the day.
