For the first time this season the varsity football team from Hayesville High School hit the road on Friday, Sept. 2 for their first away game. The Yellow Jackets travelled south to Canton, GA to take on the North Georgia Falcons. A dominating performance led to the game being well out of hand by halftime.

Hayesville seemed right at home in the Peach State as the Jackets lit up the scoreboard for 21 points in the opening quarter. On defense, Hayesville refused to give the Falcons an opportunity, keeping the home team out of end zone to give the Jackets a 21-0 lead to close the quarter.

In the second quarter, North Georgia was able to break through for a pair of touchdowns and PATs, but the Yellow Jacket offense was again unstoppable and added 20 points to their side of the board. The teams hit the halftime break with Hayesville holding a commanding 41-14 lead.

In the third quarter, the Jackets tacked on another touchdown to increase their lead to 48-14, the eventual final score.

Hayesville will once again leave North Carolina on Friday, September 9 to take on Lookout Valley in Chattanooga, TN.
