Minguez Ribera named Peach Belt Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Young Harris College's Chimo Minguez Ribera has been named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week ending Feb. 12.


Ribera went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles play in a pair of Mountain Lion 4-3 wins last week. The sophomore from Rocafort, Spain, defeated Tusculum's Nathan Matsuguma 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 and Lincoln Memorial's William Johnson 6-1, 6-4; both at No. 3 singles. He partnered with Rodrigo Mendoza at No. 2 doubles to beat TC's Rhodi Atkinson and Will Gee 6-3 and LMU's Alexandru Giurea and Harper Mills 6-3. Ribera is currently 4-1 in singles play in dual matches and 6-0 in doubles. The Mountain Lions (5-1), who are on a five-match winning streak, returns to action Saturday (Feb. 18) when they travel to Tigerville, South Carolina, for a 1 p.m. match against North Greenville University.
