Mountain Lions Dominate in Mid-Week Double-Header vs Lane


Both the YHC hitting and pitching were hot this afternoon in the double-header wins against Lane College (Mar 13th). At the plate, the Mountain Lions hung a collective 20 runs while the pitching staff only allowed one; they also pitched a shutout in game two.


The Mountain Lions advance to 18-5 overall and are 6-3 in Conference Carolinas. The Dragons move to 7-14 overall and are 6-6 in the SIAC. YHC will return to Zell B. Miller Field this weekend, where they will take on Chowan University in a three-game series. First pitches are scheduled for 1PM and 4PM (Mar 16th) and 1PM (Mar 17th).


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

Game 1:

· The Mountain Lions take game one with a score of 7-1.

· Young Harris got off to a great 4-0 start thanks to Marco Colina (2-3) and Ethan Stamps. Colina singled up the middle for the first run. Stamps cleared the bases with a double down the left field line, bringing in three RBIs.

· Steven Spell and Jeremy Begora added on in the second, each with an RBI. YHC went up 6-0.

· Lane's Ty Benniefield singled up the middle to put the Dragons on the board in the sixth.

· Colby Williams was granted the win after three IP and four K's. Dawson Hensley came in for relief in the fourth and finished the game giving up only one run and picking up four strikeouts.

· Drew Bray was 2-4 at the plate with an RBI and stolen base.


Game 2:

· Young Harris won big over Lane with a final score of 13-0 in seven innings.

· After loading the bases in the top of the third, YHC walked their first run home. Drew Bray hit a SAC fly to left field to bring in run number two. Then, Jarrett Ford (2-3) singled up the middle and tacked on another. Steven Spell (2-3) concluded the long inning with another RBI, bringing the score 6-0.

· Kade Smallwood (3-4) hit a 2-run homerun to right field in the third inning.

· In the fourth, the Mountain Lions piled on four more runs. Steven Spell, Jeremy Begora, Harris Celata, and Jace Wilson recorded RBIs.

· YHC pitching only allowed four hits all game. Cole Edwards was awarded the win.
