Mountain Lions earn USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

The Young Harris College women's volleyball team earned the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 season.

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. The Mountain Lions compiled a 3.53 GPA in the classroom.It is the second time in three seasons that Young Harris has earned this award. Young Harris was one of a record 1,332 collegiate and high school teams to earn the honor this season, including 155 NCAA Division II women's programs. The Mountain Lions open their 2023 season Sept. 1 when they face Albany State University in a noon match in Milledgeville, Georgia.
