Mountain Lions Fall to The Trojans of Mount Olive in Nail Biting Finish

The Mountain Lions battled the Trojans from the University of Mount Olive for the entirety of the game, but ultimately it was the Trojans who came out on top. The game featured 11 lead changes, with the Spartans taking the lead for the last time with 1.9 seconds left in the game. 

The Mountain Lions dropped to 8-6 overall and the Spartans improved to 2-12 on the season. Young Harris returns to action on Tuesday (Jan. 9) evening to take on the Lions of Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs, GA at 7 PM. 


  • Cole Deptula led the Mountain Lions with 17 points, going 10-11 from the free throw line. 

  • Karl Chavis in his third game back, put up 13 points, two rebounds, and two steals for the Mountain Lions. 

  • Shane Peterson was the leading scorer for the University of Mount Olive, with 18. 

  • Carl Cleveland scored 14 points and added nine rebounds. 

  • Young Harris recorded 21 bench points, compared to the Spartans' nine. 

  • The University of Mount Olive won the turnover battle, forcing 15 Mountain Lions turnovers to 11 Trojan giveaways.
