Mountain Lions march by Trojans 75-56

Young Harris College had five players in double figures as the Mountain Lions tipped of the 2022-23 season with a 75-56 non-conference women's basketball victory over Anderson (S.C.) University Thursday (Nov. 17) evening at the Harp Recreation and Commencement Center,
The Mountain Lions improved to 1-0, while the Trojans fell to 1-2. Young Harris continues its homestand Tuesday (Nov. 22) when they host Mars Hill University at 5 p.m.

Mackenzie Johnson led the Mountain Lions with a double double as she scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. The preseason All-Peach Belt Conference performer hit seven of her 12 field goal attempts.
JaMari Frederick was close behind Johnson with 20 points as she connected on four three-pointers.
Kalen Surles and Dustie Obah added 11 points each, while Magdalene Adebanjo had 10 more.
Surles added eight rebounds and distributed six assists, while Adebanjo grabbed six rebounds
The Mountain Lions shot 48.0 percent (24-of-50), while the Trojans were limited to 28.6 percent (20-of-70) shooting.
With Anderson holding a 17-16 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Mountain Lions scored seven unanswered points to start the second quarter to take a 23-17 lead on two Johnson free throws with 7:16 to go.
The Mountain Lions open up their largest lead - 20 points (67-47) - on a Adebanjo layup with 2:52 remaining in the contest.
YHC held a 45-36 advantage on the glass.
