Mountain Lions rally to beat UAH 10-6 in 10 innings

Young Harris College scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning to pick up a 10-6 non-conference baseball victory over the University of Alabama in Huntsville Tuesday (March 7) afternoon at Charger Park.
The Mountain Lions improved to 14-6, while the Chargers fell to 9-11. Young Harris returns to Peach Belt Conference play this weekend at Zell B. Miller Field as the Mountain Lions host Georgia Southwestern State University in a three-game set. The series starts Friday (March 10) at 2 p.m.

The Mountain Lions sent the game to extra innings when Jayden Carbonell-Smith hit a home run with one out in the top of the ninth to tie the score at 6. It was his second homer of the season.
Drew Bray started the 10th inning rally with a two-out single up the middle and moved to third on Jeremy Begora's single to right field.
After Begora stole second, James Basham followed with a two-run single to center field to open up an 8-6 lead.
Marco Colina kept the rally going with a walk. Colina and Basham each stole a base to move up to second and third base. Jarrett Ford followed with a two-run double to right-center field to give the Mountain Lions the 10-6 advantage.
The Mountain Lions had jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first three innings. Bray had an RBI single and Begora drove in another run on a ground out in the second inning. Jackson Kemp drove in a run with a singles and Ethan Stamps doubled home around in the third before Steven Spell added a sacrifice fly.
Michael Buice (2-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief.
The Mountain Lions had 12 hits against the Chargers with Bray lead the way with three hits. Carbonell-Smith and Basham added two hits each.
