The Mountain Lions return 22 players from last year's team that went 18-0-2 and ranked No. 11 in the final United Soccer Coaches Division II poll. The Mountain Lions, who were ranked as high as No. 1 in the poll a year ago, captured their sixth Peach Belt Conference regular-season title as well as the PBC Tournament for the fifth time in 2021. Young Harris, which was the No. 1 seed of Super Region 2, made its sixth trip to the national tournament and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship.
The Mountain Lions open up their 2022 schedule Aug. 25 when they travel to Hickory, North Carolina, for a 6:30 p.m. contest against Lenoir-Rhyne University. Young Harris will host Carson-Newman University in its home opener at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Aug. 31 at 5 p.m.
