Mountain Lions ranked 30th in preseason Collegiate Baseball poll

The Young Harris College baseball team will begin the season ranked 30th in the preseason Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division II Coaches Poll.


Young Harris, which received 546 points in the poll is the one of two Peach Belt Conference institutions - Columbus State University is ranked fourth - in the top 40 poll. Defending champion North Greenville University was No. 1 with 624 points, one point better than Southern Arkansas University.


Young Harris, which was ranked 25th in the final 2022 Collegiate Baseball Division II Coaches Poll, ended its season with a program-best 39 victories in 2022. The Mountain Lions captured the 2022 Peach Belt Tournament title and earned its second appearance in the NCAA Division II Baseball Tournament in the past three seasons.


YHC has six games on its 2023 schedule against teams that are ranked in the national poll. The Mountain Lions will play a three-game home weekend series against Columbus State (March 31-April 2) and home-and-home series with No. 11 Lee University (Feb. 14 and April 25). They will travel to Tigerville, South Carolina, to face North Greenville April 5.


The Mountain Lions open their 2023 season Feb. 3 with a 4 p.m. Central time contest against Union (Tenn.) University in Jackson, Tennessee.
