Mountain Lions Walk It Off in 10 Over Pioneers

YOUNG HARRIS, GA| The Mountain Lions pull off a stellar comeback in a ten-inning victory over the Tusculum Pioneers, with a final score of 12-11 (Feb 21st). After being down 4-10 in the fifth inning, the YHC bats responded and put the pressure back on the Pioneers in the following innings.


The Mountain Lions advance to 10-1 overall and the Pioneers move to 5-6. YHC returns home this weekend (Feb 23rd/24th) where they will take on the Erskine Flying Fleet in a three-game series. This is YHC's first Conference Carolinas matchup of the season, and first pitches are scheduled for 4PM on Friday (Feb 23rd) and 1PM/4PM on Saturday (Feb 24th).


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

· Young Harris set the tone in the first inning, as Marco Colina and Jack Enrico found ways to put three Mountain Lions across the plate.

· Tusculum's Max Schmarder tied up the game at three with a two-run HR and SAC fly in the second inning.

· Drew Bray (4-5) hit a solo shot to right field in the second inning.

· The Pioneers took a huge jump in the fifth, tacking on seven runs. Jake Absher had a grand slam in addition to Will Samuelson's two-run HR. Zach Wilson flew out to bring one home, ending the inning 10-4 Tusculum.

· The Mountain Lions began their climb back in the sixth, as Jeremy Begora doubled to left and Steven Spell (3-5) singled to center to bring the score within three.

· In the seventh inning, Drew Bray, Jarret Ford (3-4), and Steven Spell all put the bat on the ball to be ahead of the Pioneers 11-10.

· Ben Scartz singled down the right field line to tie the game at eleven in the eighth.

· Mark Castle walked for the walk-off in the tenth.

· Dylan Beck closed out the last three innings for the Mountain Lions and picked up the W. He allowed one run and recorded four strikeouts.
