Multiple Drug Charges Stem From Cherokee County Arrest

On 10/20/2023 at 9:08 PM, a Deputy with the Patrol Division initiated a traffic stop near the 2400 block of Caney Creek Road. The vehicle came to a stop and a male subject, identified as Roger Wayne Stockton, fled from the back seat of the vehicle into the wooded area. The Deputy was able to detain Stockton without incident. Located near Stockton was a pouch containing 56.6g of Methamphetamine, 21.7g of Cocaine, and 5.7g of Fentanyl. Also recovered was a loaded firearm.
Stockton, a convicted Felon, was charged with the following offenses:
• Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Transport • Trafficking in Methamphetamine by Possession • Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Transport • Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Possession • Felony Possession of Cocaine • Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia • Possession of Firearm by Felon
Stockton received a $265,000.00 secured bond and a court date of November 1, 2023 from a North Carolina Magistrate.
All suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
