No. 14 Anderson (S.C.) University took a non-conference doubleheader from Young Harris College Wednesday (Feb. 8) afternoon at the AU Softball Complex.

The Trojans shut out the Mountain Lions in the opener before holding on for a 4-3 decision in the nightcap as Anderson improved to 8-0. The Mountain Lions, who fell to 3-2, return to action Friday (Feb. 10) afternoon at the Charger Chillout in Albertville, Alabama. YHC will face Delta State University and Trevecca Nazarene University on the first day of the three-day event.

  • Jill Dixon (1-1) took the loss in the circle, allowing just one earned run and striking out eight.

  • Grace Young had a single to left in the third and Hannah Carey added single down the right field line in the sixth for the only Mountain Lion hits.

  • After Anderson took a 4-0 lead in the fourth, the Mountain Lions pushed across a run in their half of the fifth.

  • Trinity Aycock led off with a single down the left field lin. Pinch runner Sara Morris stole second and came around to score on Amber Divine's RBI single to right field.

  • Aycock was in the mix an inning later as Carey and Carey led off the sixth with back-to-back singles. Aycock drove in two runs on a two-outs since to right field.

  • The Mountain Lions had a chance in the top of the seventh as Jess Jaruszewski and Divine had singles, but reliever Lane Edgington earned her first save as she got Young to ground into a double play to end the game.

  • Kylie Ferguson (1-1) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
