Thomas Paulsell of the Georgia men’s tennis team won his Round of 64 match at the NCAA Singles Championship on Monday morning, beating Boise State’s Sam Sippel by a 6-3, 6-4 score at the Greenwood Tennis Complex.

• Paulsell earned his ninth straight-set victory with the win and now holds 16 singles wins on the year.
• Sippel entered the match ranked No. 125 nationally, which marks the seventh ranked win for Paulsell this season, good for second-most on the team.
• With Paulsell advancing to the Round of 32, a Bulldog has now won at least one match in the NCAA Singles Championship in nine of the previous 10 tournaments.
• Junior Ryan Colby’s season has come to an end following his 6-4, 6-2 loss in the Round of 64 to Virginia’s Dylan Dietrich. Colby finished his junior year with 20 singles wins, 10 of which came against ranked competition.
• Paulsell’s next match will come against Dietrich in the Round of 32, Colby’s opening-round opponent.

Three Bulldogs Advance to Round of 32 at NCAA Singles Championships
STILLWATER, Okla. – Representing the Georgia women’s tennis team in the NCAA Singles Championships, three Bulldogs in Anastasiia Lopata, Alexandra Vecic and Dasha Vidmanova each opened up their first day of competition with opening round victories to advance to the round of 32.

• No. 70 Anastasiia Lopata picked up the first victory of the day for the Bulldogs with a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 43 Valentina Ivanov (Cal).
• No. 41 Alexandra Vecic followed up as the second Bulldog with a win after knocking off No. 49 Katja Wiersholm (Cal), 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
• No. 16 Dasha Vidmanova capped off the evening with the last result of the day, posting a comeback 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 35 Ellie Schoppe (FSU).
• Lopata’s victory over Ivanov on Monday marks her third-consecutive win in the last four days in singles action while tallying her ninth win in the last 10 finished singles matches.
• With a win over Schoppe, Vidmanova has now defeated seven ranked opponents in her last eight finished singles matches.

The Bulldogs will resume competition at the NCAA Singles Championships second round on Tuesday, May 21 starting at 10 a.m. ET. Vidmanova will face Janice Tjen (Pepperdine) at 3 p.m. ET followed by Vecic taking on Alexandra Yepifanova (Stanford) and Lopata facing Fiona Crawley (UNC) at 3:30 p.m. ET.
