Solid JV football season ends against the Robbinsville Knights

Hayesville's JV football team travelled to Robbinsville on Wednesday, Sept. 28 to face the Black Knights in the final game of the season. The Jackets fell behind early and were unable to climb out of the hole, losing the season-finale 26-6.

Robbinsville was in charge early on and found themselves up 14-0 in early on in the second quarter. The Yellow Jackets kept pounding and with 6:56 left before halftime, Hayesville found the end zone to cut the deficit to 14-6. Before the horn sounded to end the quarter, the Knights answered with a touchdown of their own and led 20-6 at the break.

Neither team added points in the third quarter, but with 6:45 left in the game, Robbinsville extended their lead to 26-6 with a touchdown. That would end up being the last score of the game, giving the Knights the victory.

Hayesville ended the season with a 4-3 record. Two of their losses could have easily gone the other way as they lost to Murphy by 2 points and it took three overtimes for Swain County to down the Jackets.

Head coach Brett Graves and his staff motivated their team to one of the most exciting JV football seasons in years and instilled confidence in the program.
