Peacock Performing Arts Center

Press Release

The 35th edition of the "Songwriters Showcase will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Peacock Performing Arts Center.

Local favorite Rob Tiger hosts a platform for singer/songwriters to perform their own creations. This engaging event has become a tradition at the Peacock and is the best value in the mountains for an evening of quality entertainment.

Featured artists at this show will include Antje Duvejot, who has solidified her reputation as one of Boston's top singer songwriters with "Big Dream Boulevard" her debut studio release and "the Near Demise of the Highwire Dancer" and "New Siberia" her follow-up albums.

Brian Mackey, has just released his brand-new single, "Saturday Night Sleeping" off of his upcoming album, "Good Morning Ireland." This song and album reflect on the tragic loss of his son Brian in 2018, to a heroin overdose. He has partnered with MusiCares®, the Recording Academy's charity, to donate 100% of the proceeds from the track May through September.

Finally, Brother and the Hayes, which is a Tennessee based, Texas born, Americana-roots band led by siblings Jennie Hayes Kurtz and David Bingaman. They combine thoughtful lyrics with infectious grooves, pulling from an assortment of blues, bluegrass, and country & western influences.

Join us for a night of singers telling stories, and what might be the best music you’ll hear this year.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.ThePeacockNC.org or by calling the box office at 828-389-2787 Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
