On the heels of releasing its nonconference slate, Western Carolina and the Southern Conference today announced the league schedule for the 2022-23 men’s basketball season. The Catamount men will play an 18-game, home-and-home schedule.

WCU opens the Southern Conference slate on Thurs., Dec. 29 at home against chromatic rival Furman followed by a visit from UNCG on New Year’s Eve.

The Catamounts open 2023 with a weeknight trip to ETSU (Jan. 4) before hosting Mercer on Jan. 7. A stretch of three of the next four on the road follows with games at defending league champion Chattanooga (Jan. 11), The Citadel (Jan. 14), and Samford (Jan. 21) with a home contest against Wofford on Jan. 18. The Citadel comes to Cullowhee on Jan. 25 to open the second half of the league schedule with the month concluding with a trip to VMI (Jan. 28).

The Samford Bulldogs head to Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center to open the month of February (Feb. 1) with home games against Chattanooga (Feb. 4), ETSU (Feb. 15), and the regular-season finale against VMI (Feb. 25). Road contests have WCU heading to Wofford (Feb. 8), Furman (Feb. 11), Mercer (Feb. 18), and UNCG (Feb. 22).

The 2023 Ingles Southern Conference Tournament returns to the Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville on March 3-6.

The Catamounts open the 2022-23 regular season on Nov. 7 at Georgia as a part of the team’s nonconference schedule announced late last week (will link the release here).
