The Gwinnett Stripers (7-8) tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning on a two-out RBI single by David Fletcher, but the Omaha Storm Chasers (10-5) scored the final five runs of the game to win 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at Werner Park.
Decisive Plays: A solo home run by Nick Pratto staked Omaha to a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, but the Stripers tied the score in the sixth as Skye Bolt led off with a triple and scored on Fletcher’s two-out roller to right. The 1-1 tie lasted until the bottom of the sixth, when Michael Massey’s two-out RBI double off Taylor Widener (L, 1-1) made it 2-1 Storm Chasers. Omaha added two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Key Contributors: Starter Huascar Ynoa was solid in a no-decision for Gwinnett, logging 4.0 innings (1 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO). Bolt went 2-for-2 with a triple and run scored, and Fletcher went 1-for-4 with an RBI. For Omaha, Jonathan Bowlan (W, 2-1) earned his second win of the week with a quality start (6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 SO). John Rave and Tyler Gentry had two RBIs apiece.
Noteworthy: Leury Garcia went 0-for-4, snapping his team-best nine-game hitting streak. After going 5-1 at Werner Park last season, Gwinnett went 1-5 at the home of the Storm Chasers this year.
