Sweet victory for HMS Lady Jackets

On Thursday, Nov. 17, Hayesville Middle School's Lady Yellow Jacket basketball team travelled to Robbinsville to take on the Lady Black Knights in a Smoky Mountain Conference battle. Things were too close for comfort, but Hayesville managed to come away with the 29-26.

The Lady Jackets came out strong and established their game plan with an 8-2 run in the first quarter. Robbinsville flipped the script in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Jackets 9-4 but Hayesville took the 12-11 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Lady Jackets' offense managed 6 points, but Robbinsville kept pace with 6 of their own to make the score nail-biting 18-17 headed into the fourth. Hayesville picked the right time to have their highest offensive output of the game as the Lady Knights netted 9 points. Hayesville not only matched Robbinsville, but actually increased the gap with 11 points to seal the 29-26 win.
