On Tuesday, March 21, the varsity Lady Yellow Jacket softball team sent Hayesville fans home happy after an extra-inning, walk-off 7-6 win over Smoky Mountain Conference opponent Andrews.

After leading through much of the game, the Lady Jackets found themselves tied 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh. Hayesville seemed to have a path to a victory until Addison Bunch was gunned down trying to get to third base with 2 outs. That sent the contest to extra innings.

Andrews failed to add to their point total in the top of the eighth which left Hayesville needing just one run to get the victory. With runners on and two outs, sophomore Raylyn Taylor slapped a single over second base, bringing in the runner and giving the Lady Jackets the 7-6 victory.

Hayesville will travel to Andrews on Thursday, March 23 to try to make it two in a row over the Lady Wildcats.
