Traffic stop leads to four arrests in Cherokee County

Murphy, NC—The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reports the May 15, 2022 arrest of 39 year old Ericka Lynn Jordan, 51 year old Rex Henry Hall II, 44 year old David Harold Windle Jr, and, 38 year old Melodie Ann Yocom, all who listed Murphy North Carolina as their address, for Trafficking in Methamphetamine.


At approximately 5 am on May 15, 2022 a Cherokee County Deputy observed a vehicle in which Jordan, Windle, Hall, and Yocom occupied. While the Deputy observed the vehicle make several traffic violations and stopped the vehicle. During the traffic stop the Deputy was able to form probable cause and located and seized a trafficking amount of methamphetamine. Additionally, Hall was found to be in possession of brass knuckles.

Rex Henry Hall II was charged with Possess Marijuana up to ½ OZ, Felony-Traffick in Methamphetamine, Felony-PWIMSD Methamphetamine, Felony-Poss CS Prison/Jail Premises, Carrying concealed firearm, carrying concealed weapon, Drug Paraphernalia not for Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia for Marijuana. Received a $310,000 secure bond and a court date of 5-26-22 at 9AM at Cherokee County Courthouse.


David Windle was charged with Felony-Traffick in Methamphetamine, Felony-PWIMSD Methamphetamine, Drug Paraphernalia not for Marijuana. Received a $310,000 secure bond and a court date of 5-26-22 at 9AM at Cherokee County Courthouse.


Melodie Yocom was charged with Felony-Traffick in Methamphetamine, Felony-PWIMSD Methamphetamine, Drug Paraphernalia not for Marijuana. Received a $310,000 secure bond and a court date of 5-26-22 at 9AM at Cherokee County Courthouse.


Erick Lynn Jordan was charged with Traffick in Methamphetamine, Felony-PWIMSD Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Dwelling/Vehicle, Drug Paraphernalia not for Marijuana. Received a $315,000 secure bond and a court date of 5-26-22 at 9AM at Cherokee County Courthouse.


Chief Deputy Joe Wood stated “Good work by an alert Deputy. We also thank Murphy Police Officer May who responded and assisted in the discovery and recovery of the methamphetamine as well as assisting in the arrest of the four drug traffickers. We also are appreciative of the bond that was given to the four.”
